GAMES BOOK CLUBS PLAY

WHICH ACTOR WOULD PLAY WHICH ROLE?

A book club suggested Saving El Chico would be perfect for a film, or television series. A number of readers have told and written me with the same comment. The idea is flattering and I agree the story, setting, and characters are entertaining, well suited for such an endeavor.

This Houston group took the discussion to another level and played a game: “Which actor should play which role?” They sent me their choices for the entire cast. I list some below. I’d like to hear your comments and suggestions…just in case Saving El Chico goes to Hollywood.

ABOUT META

In 2005 Meta Strauss moved from her life-long home, Houston, Texas, to northern California. She began to write, joining a long list of artists, writers, film-makers, chefs, gardeners, and philosophers in The Valley of the Moon. The picturesque area provides fertile ground for growing in creativity and contentment.

Locals don't like to brag about life in Sonoma for fear the entire world will follow their lead and spoil the small town atmosphere. It's pretty hard to hide the benefits of living in heart of wine country where the scenery, weather and people are almost perfect.

Meta's writing is often published in the Sonoma Sun's Fine Art Section. Her work appears in the anthologies Cry of the Nightbird, Sonoma Writers Alliance Anthology, and Redwood Writers Anthology. Her memoir of family tales, Stories for Emma is available on Amazon. Strauss's work has been performed at Napa Theater's Lucky Penny Productions and has won various writing contests.

Strauss's first novel, Saving El Chico ,was released in January, 2016, available on Amazon, Kindle, and at your local book stores. She is currently writing the sequel.

SAVING EL CHICO

From the owners of Ed’s Salvage Yard and Golf Course to the Be Lovely Boutique, citizens of the small west Texas town of El Chico band together in order to survive and flourish in the twenty-first century. A devastating drought appears to be the final blow to the community and Bea McPherson’s Circle McP Ranch. Taking advantage of the situation, a fast-talking Dallas businessman joins with the local mayor to swindle the residents. They don't anticipate the unwavering devotion to the land and shrewdness of the female rancher aided by Jake Johnson, a cowboy who was born a hundred years too late, and Silver Crow, the Great-Grandson of Quanah Parker, noble chief of the Comanche nation.
